Notes on Musical Artists:
Laura Johnston: Grew up in Marin County. She toured with her dad and the Doobie Brothers every summer and realized she was interested in singing and dancing. Currently she is trying to get on the new MTV performance show Rock the Cradle.
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts: A top rocker with a punk rock outlook on life. Joan, actress and Renaissance woman, started in a teen band, The Runaways. Now she's opening at the Fair and will play nothing but rock 'n' roll.
Steel Pulse: A reggae group from the United Kingdom. They play music representative of their Jamaican roots. Be ready to dance because they will be ready to give you the rhythms that will have you moving to the beat.
Preservation Hall Jazz Band: From the corners of the French Quarter comes a New Orleans jazz group. Going strong for over 50 years, they will be bringing youold standards and Southern comfort.
Tommy Castro Band: Originated in Marin County with a blend of rock, the blues and Memphis soul. Carlos Santana says, "The blues is in good hands. This is the person who has the voice, the sound, and the right intentions to touch everybody's heart."
WAR: Fused rock, jazz, Latin and R&B. With a diverse group of performers and a popular "dig it" style, War has sold over 50 million records.
America: Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell will blow you away with their hits such as "Horse with No Name" and "Sister Golden Hair."
Crunchy Frog: Consisting of children, ages 9-13, this is a very professional sounding group, despite the young ages. They play your rock and jazz classics with style.
Elvin Bishop: This Blues legend will stir up the party. He's sure to please with hits like "Travelin' Shoes" and "Sure Feels Good" and "Fooled Around and Fell in Love."
Los Lobos: Incorporating melodic ballads into rock 'n' roll
or blues mixed in with folk, there is always a Mexican American vibe imbedded in all of Los Lobos songs.
